Persicaria affinis 'Darjeeling Red'

This useful ground cover perennial tolerates very dry conditions; it forms low spreading mats of green leaves which turn bronze in autumn but remain on the plant and need to be trimmed back in spring.  In summer it produces spikes of pink flowers which darken to red then brown.
