Keep picking beans

Runner beans need to be picked constantly once they begin to set - if you let the pods swell and dry, and the seeds ripen too much, the plants will stop flowering. But when the beans are being productive, you will have large quantities to deal with daily - summer was traditionally the season where meals were planned around eating up quantities of fresh garden vegetables.
