Arbutus menziesii

A North American relative of the Strawberry Tree is the madrona, which is much taller and has decorative peeling cinnamon bark as well as leathery evergreen leaves with pale undersides. The 'lily-of-the-valley' flowers are carried in spring, with orange fruits the same autumn.
