Crataegus monogyna
Hawthorn is a native tree with glossy, deeply lobed leaves and flat sprays of heavily-scented cream flowers, followed by dark red 'haws' in autumn. As a garden tree it isn't a brilliant shape, but it makes an excellent wildlife hedge.
