Recognise a fairy ring

'Fairy rings' in grass are caused by various fungi; a ring of dark, flourishing grass is followed by another of dying grass with occasional toadstools which gradually expands outwards. There's no sure treatment, but you can spike, water and feed the dry area to help the grass recover.
