Osmanthus burkwoodii

Osmanthus are generally grown for their sweetly-scented white flowers - the holly-leaved form, O. heterophyllus, flowers in late autumn, but O. burkwoodii  produces its flowers in early spring. It is a slow-growing shrub with small, leathery evergreen leaves which will eventually  ( in 25 years)  grow from a domed bush to a small multistemmed tree.
