Piptanthus nepalensis

This 'evergreen laburnum' isn't grown as often as it deserves - it would be best in a sheltered spot, with good drainage. The glossy dark green trifoliate leaves are blue-green underneath and actually semi-evergreen, and the young stems are almost black like a bamboo.
