Plan ahead with daffodils

This tip is too late for many of us with existing plantings, but it came to mind clearing daffodil foliage and may help with planning a new border. When you plant for succession, with daffodils for spring colour followed by later bedding plants or tender perennials to fill the gaps in your border, make sure you choose early cultivars and not a mix of early and late flowering daffodils - otherwise when you come to pull out the old foliage, not all of it will have died back when you want to plant.
