Moroccan broom is really only hardy against a protective wall or south-facing fence, but where it grows well it can be spectacular. The leaves are much larger than other brooms, covered in silky hairs which give them a silvery sheen; the flowers are yellow but held in large clusters rather than along the length of a stem so they are much showier, and they smell of pineapple which gives the plant another common name, pineapple broom.
