Echinacea purpurea

Coneflowers are originally North American and they work best of all in dry prairie plantings with blocks of late-season plants and grasses. In a border you need a good clump to make an impact amongst other foliage. 'Magnus' is a particularly good deep purple-pink cultivar, but there are many other colours including white and orange-red, or short double forms like this shocking pink 'Candy'.
