Gladiolus papilio

The long arching stems of this subtle.late-flowering gladiolus carry hooded flowers which are dull lilac on the outside, but with intricate markings inside. It thrives with sun and good drainage, but try to position it on a bank or at the top of steps, where you look up into the flowers not down on the outsides.
