Lilium candidum

Lilium candidum

The Madonna lily has fragrant pure white trumpet flowers, flushed with pink on the outside;  the elegant stems are up to 1.8m in height. Unlike other lilies, it actually produces some basal leaves in the autumn which persist through the winter - and this early foliage draws lily beetles like a magnet.
