Deadheading promotes more flowers

Deadheading is a summer ritual, and a very important one for good horticultural reasons;  it will promote repeat flowering in shrubs like roses, but it also stops annuals from setting seed and keeps them blooming; it  brightens plants by removing 'browned' flower heads and stops plants from flopping over as heavier seeds form.
