Look for Juneberries before they disappear

Amelanchier berries are some of the first fuits to ripen in the summer (hence the name Juneberry) so they are immemsely popular with blackbirds, thrushes and woodpigeons. If you have an Amelanchier in your garden or nearby, it is worth going out to look at its small red berries - they won't be there for more than a week or so before the birds strip them all off.
