Papaver cambrica

Papaver cambrica

Sometimes re-classification makes sense of plant behaviour: most Meconopsis are difficult to grow in the UK, whereas poppies thrive, so there was some logic to the Welsh poppy  - a perennial which seeds itself freely around the garden - changing to Papaver  from  Meconopsis. The single papery lemon-yellow  flowers are held well above light green leaves, and it flourishes in sun or shade, in all cracks and crevices.
