Even if you don't have Geum cultivars growing in your garden, it's easy to think that Wood Avens is something you planted in your border, but it's actually a common European wildflower (aka 'weed' if you don't want it) which bears an unfortunate resemblance to its cultivated relatives. The strong healthy rosettes of leaf can fool you into letting it grow and its small yellow flowers will produce lots of seeds.
