The poppy anemone is often grown for floristry and cutting gardens; the  large single flowers on sturdy stems come  in strong reds, blues and whites,  set off by dark anthers. The claw-shaped tubers (often called corms) are readily available in colour mixtures, and thrive as spring flowering perennials in partial shade with a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost.  For cutting gardens, successional planting will give you colourful blooms through to September but the tubers revert to spring flowering in the next year.
