Sunshine brings out ladybirds

The spring sunshine is bringing ladybirds out - they may be a little earlier to come out of hibernation than usual, and the insects they feed on are not yet very active, but some research shows that many ladybird species can also consume pollen, nectar or even plant sap if their main food source is not available. They are also cannibalistic when necessary, and can nip people to see if they are edible!
