Plantago lanceolata

Ribwort plantain is generally seen in turf, where its elongated (lanceolate) leaves hug the ground in a low rosette; in open ground the leaves grow upwards and it can reach 30cm, with its tall  brown flower spikes held above the leaves on long stalks.
