Iris pseudacorus

The Yellow Flag iris is native to the UK , growing in ditches on neutral or acid soils. The spreading rhizomes can colonise large areas so it is too vigorous for most gardens. Scientists are investigating its ability to filter pollutants like heavy metals from waste water.
