a week of weeds - Glechoma hederacea

Ground ivy is a member of the mint family, and like other mints it can be invasive, with stems that run and root at every node. It can be a serious problem in turf,  and it can easily spread into borders. The small two-lipped flowers are purple and the leaves are kidney-shaped  - and eaten as a salad in many countries.
