Yellowing leaves in the spring are quite common with evergreen shrubs - nitrogen leaches out through the soil in a wet winter, and as new growth begins in the spring a hedge like this Prunus laurocerasus can look distinctly yellow, while the nitrogen is reclaimed from these older leaves to push into the new growth.
