Distract your slugs and snails

Organic systems suggest that you can keep slugs and snails sway from your hostas or other susceptible plants by distracting them with sacrifices - give them lettuce seedlings or something equally tasty to draw them way from your cherished plants. Other alternatives are to drown them in beer, so that they die happy.
