Ornamental grasses can give structure to a winter garden, and frosts show off the seedheads; but after a couple of months of windy weather, deciduous grasses begin to break up and shed old leaves. You could cut back deciduous grasses in early spring, but if they are particularly messy think about cutting them back early to tidy up.
