Harvest onions for storage

During the summer after you've harvested your bolting onions you can harvest the rest of the crop as you need them, or you can lift them all to store once the foliage starts to bend down at the 'neck' and die off naturally. At this point you can loosen them with a fork, leaving them on the ground for a few days for the outer layers of the skin to dry off before bringing them in for storage.
