Cut back sorrel before it seeds

A plant of Rumex acetosa  or garden sorrel produces a good crop of  leaves for soups and sauces; the sharp distinctive flavour comes from its oxalic acid content. But if you leave it to flower it will shed seeds like its relative the dock, and you will be overrun with unwanted seedlings.
