Use traps for slugs

Another way to intercept slugs is to offer them beer: either in a specially made beer trap or by burying a jamjar or smooth plastic container in the soil. Home-made traps should be half-filled with beer, with the rim raised 2-3cm above the level of the ground to prevent beneficials like ground beetles from falling in. You could also try an upturned grapefruit in case your slugs are teetotal!
