Salix alba 'Britzensis'

The young growth of this cultivar of White Willow is a showy scarlet; like most willows it thrives in damp soils and alongside water. For the best stem colour it should be cut back annually, and pollarding (growing on a short 'leg' to keep the young growth above browsing animals) is traditional.
