Passiflora edulis

Passiflora edulis

The edible passion fruit is a native of tropical and sub-tropical regions in Brazil; it  is semi-evergreen, so it can lose some or all  of its leaves in winter.  It needs winter protection in a greenhouse or conservatory (temperatures no lower than 10 degrees Celsius) and a sunny position sheltered position during the growing season, with plenty of water to produce sweet purple-black fruits.
