Specify your plants!

Bidens is a really good example of the importance of specifying your plant names accurately; if you put together a planting plan with 'Bidens' in it, then someone else looks for the plants, 'Bidens' on its own might give you B. aurea - hardy and two metres high, and running inexorably forwards from the back of the border - or B. ferulifolia, compact at 25 centimetres and not hardy through the winter in the UK.
