The pineapple guava is a member of the Myrtle family, a South American evergreen shrub which needs a sheltered spot to thrive. Grey-green leaves have a densely-felted underside and in summer it produces flowers 4cm across with long, red stamens, followed sometimes by red-tinged, green berries..
