Buy autumn crocus now

You can still buy autumn crocus in garden centres, where they will be starting to sprout in their packets. Autumn crocus' generally covers the two main types of Colchicum, C. autumnale and the larger C. speciosum, and both of them will come into flower in a couple of weeks, even out of the ground, using the energy stored in the corm. Plant them as soon as possible to let them develop roots and replenish their food reserves from the leaves that follow in spring.
