Iris sibirica

Iris sibirica

The siberian iris is clump-forming, not a bulb like I.reticulata or a rhizome like the bearded iris. The  flowers of the species are deep blue, with delicate veining on the falls; they are held on stiff upright stalks of about 60 cm. I. sibirica can survive quite dry border soils, but recent dry conditions have meant that flowers are small, and over very quickly.
