Rosa xanthina 'Canary Bird'

This is one of the earliest shrub roses to flower, and a well-grown specimen can be a marvellous sight  with high arching stems covered in single pale yellow flowers among the ferny green leaves;  the flowers have a slight scent and very prominent stamens. The downside is that it can be tricky to establish, and there is a tendency for some of its brittle thorny stems to die back after a few years.
