The Flame Creeper is a herbaceous perennial climber which dies down completely in winter. It requires an acid soil -  it can be difficult to establish, but here it is happy in raised acid beds containing spring-flowered rhododendrons and camellias.  it will scramble through shrubs and hedges,  covering them with a trail of showy scarlet flowers.
