Lobelia laxiflora var. angustifolia

This is a borderline-hardy perennial originating in Mexico, with narrow lance-shaped leaves; you will only get a mass of leaves if we have a dull wet summer, but with higher temperatures tubular red flowers with yellow throats emerge. It dies back to the ground in winter, and spreads through underground rhizomes if you can give it a free draining soil and sunny aspect.
