Rabbits will graze on what they can reach

While the apple bough was bent down the ground, something stripped off and ate most of the leaves - at that height it was probably rabbits or hares, as the muntjac could have reached the branch at its normal height. When everything is so dry, all foliage is welcome. Note - the bonfire pile in the background is growing, as it's not safe to light a fire in these conditions.
