Recognise vine weevil pupae

The larval stage of the vine weevil causes the most damage to plants: they chew through soft roots - particularly of container plants - until they have eaten enough to be ready to pupate and develop into adult beetles. The pupa has a rather horrible soft white body, an alien, un-hardened beetle shape, but does not eat at this stage.
