Self heal or all heal is a medicinal herb which has been used for everything from stopping bleeding and healing wounds, to treating heart disease and sore throats. It is a creeping perennial which roots along its stems, forming a mat in turf which is low enough to evade a mower; in the borders, it grows taller and the nectar in its spikes of purple flowers attract bees and wasps.
