Completing the round-up of brooms are some which flower later in the summer: Mount Etna Broom can grow to about five metres and makes an attractive small 'evergreen' tree, but it isn't a long lived plant, perhaps ten years in the British climate. It flowers in July and suits gravel gardens and sheltered sites - seen here in Beth Chatto's Dry Garden.
