try bran to deter slugs and snails

Some garden experts (for example BBC Gardeners' World) recommend wheat bran as a method of slug and snail control; like rat poisons made from constarch, bran interferes with the mollusc's digestion and it desiccates and and dies. This has the advantage that nothing further up the foodchain that consumes the slug will be poisoned, but it does need reapplication frequently in wet weather.
