Crocus vernus
'Pickwick' is one of the best known cultivars of the large Dutch crocus, a C. vernus hybrid. Dutch crocus flower slightly later; they are larger corms too and if you want to naturalise them in grass can be planted deeper than C. chrysanthus (giving some protection against marauding squirrels).
