Garrya elliptica
For much of the year the SilkTassel Bush looks fairly drab, with an upright habit and wavy-edged dark evergreen leaves which are often disfigured by fungal leaf spot. It's often planted as a wall shrub for shade, or even used around car parks: but for a month or more from February the hanging male catkins make it spectacular.
