Cacti protect themselves from high light levels with hairs or spines - some succulents also protect themselves by reflecting light back from a silvery gray bloom; one of the Crassula family is Pachyphytum oviferum, or Moonstone; its fleshy grey-green leaves have a silver bloom with a hint of purple. The surprising flowerspike rises to 30cm.
