It may shed its needles when cut, but the conical young Norway Spruce has the true 'Christmas Tree' scent we expect. Prince Albert is credited with introducing the decorated Christmas tree to the UK, but it goes back another generation to George III's German wife; he made the custom more fashionable with the Victorian middle classes.
