Hedera helix

Hedera helix

The common ivy on this bank shows both its growth forms: the young leaves are deeply lobed with the veins standing out pale against the dark green and trailing along the ground. Above this the ivy is mature and shrubby, with larger wavy-edged leaves  and clusters of berries which are useful food for birds.
