Cyclamen hederifolium

Cyclamen hederifolium

This is one of the most useful  plants for autumn /winter colour in difficult spots like dry shade under trees and hedges. The thick, flat tubers of this cyclamen give it one of its common names, 'Sowbread'; the silver green markings on the ivy-shaped leaves give it the other name of 'ivy-leaved cyclamen'. The backward-turned flowers are usually pink, opening before or with the leaves in the autumn.
