Crataegus persimilis 'Prunifolia'

The cockspur thorn is a small tree with excellent red/orange autumn colour  and attractive fruits;  it's hard to recognise it as a hawthorn because of the broad cherry-like leaves (one of the older, more useful cultivar names!)  and the clusters of large red fruits which are more like crabapples than haws - until you get close enough to notice the large thorns on the stems.
