Lonicera japonica

Japanese honeysuckle is a twining shrub with paired semi-evergreen leaves which suits a shady position. The fragrant white flowers  are produced over a long period into the autumn, and age to creamy yellow, and are followed by shiny black berries attractive to birds - which spread the climber very widely, making it almost a weed.  This species is actually listed as an invasive non-native species in Northern Ireland, and though it can be sold or grown there the RHS advises gardeners to take care with managing it and with disposing of unwanted material.
