Liriope muscari

Lily turf is a good perennial to use in underplanting deciduous shrubs, but the purple 'grape hyacinth' flowers which appear in late autumn among the spreading clumps of strappy evergreen leaves are much more prolific if there is some sun or just dappled shade.
